ParticipantOh, great! Thanks for clarifying this, Nicole! I’m glad to know as we head into our workouts. Based on what I wrote above, I wasn’t quite sure. This is how it was explained to me in years past, or I must have misunderstood. I’m so glad you chimed in here.
Today, I did end up doing 12 reps for each set of most of the exercises that recommended 8-12 reps. I had planned on doing 8 but ended up doing 12 just because my weights were too light for 8 reps. So, I’m glad to know I started this off right. 😉 And now, I’ll have it right for the rest of the Challenge. 🙂

ParticipantHi atbaltodano.
I believe you start with a weight that is heavy enough for you to do the bottom of the range first. For instance, if the recommended weight range is 8-12, then you start with a heavy weight where you can do 8 and no more. Then you work yourself up until you can do 12. This may take days or weeks, depending on you.
Once you reach 12 reps, then you increase your weight. For instance, you start with a weight of 15 pounds. Once you reach 12 reps with 15 pounds, then you increase your load for your next day of exercise. You start with 20 pounds at 8 reps again. Then you continue pyramiding up like this.
I hope this helps. 😉

ParticipantThanks for clarifying, Naomi! I thought it was 30 minutes for Phase 1. I’m glad I read this! 🙂

ParticipantI’m not strong enough for pullups by myself yet, but the assisted pull up bands help me a ton to get a decent set done. They come in different strengths. As you get stronger, you move down in band power until you don’t need them anymore. I got a set several years ago from IronWoodyFitness.com. Below is the link in case you’re interested.

ParticipantRoberta – I have been emailing with Nicole’s team. This is being worked on. Hopefully, we’ll have everything real soon as I know we have to do our grocery shopping before we start. 😉

ParticipantOkay. Thanks, Sarah. I actually looked into gyms around the area I’m going. I thought it would be a lot more expensive for a week than what it is. So, I’m just going to do that. But, I’ll do the alternative exercises if there’s no other way.
By the way, you look awesome already from your profile pic!

ParticipantThanks for the reply, Sarah. Unfortunately, it’s the egg whites that I’m allergic to. Most people are not allergic to yolks, just the whites. 🙁
