ParticipantHi Nicole! My question is concerning breast implants and competing in Figure. I love competing and hope to eventually turn pro. I’d love to make it to Olympia someday. I compete in the NPC and I spend a lot of time watching various competitions and following my favorite competitors, such as you! I’ve noticed that it seems most IFBB figure pros have implants. When I get stage-lean my breasts go away completely and while I still place well in competitons at this level I’m concerned that to be sucessfull at the pro level implants become a necessity. I wouldn’t mind having larger breasts when competing, but I feel surgery is a huge step, and it’s a big expense! I’m just curious as to your opinion on the topic! Thank you!

ParticipantHi Dominique,
Thank you!! I lift weights 5-6 days a week. Usually I do legs twice a week, and alternate doing shoulders and back twice a week. My lifting style is pretty high volume, with lots of pyramid sets, drop sets, and burnouts thrown into my workouts. I also do cardio 3-5 days a week (intervals for 30 minutes on a stair climber).
My diet is ever evolving with my transformation. I keep my diet very clean, and I have a weekly cheat meal (typically a q’doba burrito bowl or coldstone) 🙂
I track my calories and macros very closely, keeping my protein relatively high, and my carb intake a bit lower. I have started to see how my body responds to carb cycling some. My coach is helping me learn more about how my body responds to diet changes and it’s always fun to see how things progress! I did make a little video about my transformation on evolutionfitnessnd.com if you want to check it out!
Thanks!Bethany Abeln
ParticipantLooking great Heather!!! Congrats on your transformation!

ParticipantHey Taylor! Fellow North Dakota girl here 🙂
Treats: Not gonna lie, ice cream is my weakness haha. My cheat meals are typically done at cold stone!
Odd one out: Same here. I feel like when you live this lifestyle, it becomes such huge part of your life that sometimes other people don’t understand it, or can’t relate. I’ve found that many of my friends don’t feel like they can invite me out anymore because they know I don’t drink, and I don’t eat the way they eat. I think its important to surround yourself with people with similar mind-sets and goals. I’m blessed to have found a great “gym family”, and I hope you can do the same so you don’t feel so alone!Maybe I will see you on stage sometime in the ND/MN area? 🙂

ParticipantHi Nicole,
Love the forum addition to your site! 🙂 Also I met you at Meet the Olympians, and I was 4 weeks out from my first show at that time. You inspired and motivated me so much through all the tough times of my prep so THANK YOU!
I am now on my “off season” or “improvement season”, as I like to call it, and I’m finding it almost more difficult then prep was, as I want to gain more muscle mass, but still remain lean… but at the same time I feel like I’m developing an unhealthy relationship with food. I just want to eat all the crap I couldn’t eat during prep..sometimes to the point of binge eating. I’m aware that this is VERY unhealthy and not constructive to my goals. I’m working with my coach to try and get back on track, but I was wondering if you have any advise on balancing out a healthier relationship with food?
Thank you for being such an positive role model for competitors like me, and for providing us with a place to come and ask questions!!! -Bethany Abeln -
