    Hi Nicole,

    Ive been a member for quite sometime and watched you in the last 2 Olympia’s! I greatly admire you and love your physique. I compete at an amature level and trying to put on muscle in my offseason. Ive always been uncomfortable putting on too much weight to make the necessary gains so hence things are happening pretty slow for me. What are some tips that you tell yourself and how do you deal with others opinions regarding off season physique changes to make gains! Is it necessary to be in such a calorie surplus and gain fat to make these gains? I thought if you build up your metabolism slowly (reverse diet) you can add calories and still look good while building muscle. Is that not true?

    I know I need to be comfortable in my body no matter what and focus on my goals.. but it is hard after you know what your body looked like doing a show and all the compliments that went with it!!!!

    Hi Nicole
    What is your opinion about waste trainers? Cardio in neoprene shorts or neoprene waist trimmers?
    It seems a lot of coaches feel this helps melt the fat faster and also help trim your waist?

    Hi Nicole,
    I have to tell you my husband gave me a new nickname! “YBF” (your biggest fan) haha! I love your site and Your workouts helped me reach a new level..hence very sore. Anyway in your March 31 days of workouts I noticed you really change things up. If I’m trying to build muscle specifically (like on shoulders and glutes) , is it better to use some of your past video/workouts that are more specific to one or two body parts? I’ve been doing the same split every week. Or is it better to shock the body and throw in a total cardio accelerated upper body one? Also , Do you include these workouts when prepping?

    Hi

    Not sure you got my question about carbs?!

    I’m trying to put on muscle and tried cycling my carbs but my body ends up gaining body fat. It’s like I don’t use the carb sources for energy . Or as they call it “carb /insulin resistant ” so several trainers/coaches suggested a high fat and high protein diet. They also include a cheat meal every 2-3 weeks with carbs. My body responds well. But will I still be able to put on Muscle? I switched from bikini to figure and doing this natural..
    So can you explain why you feel carbs are important to gain muscle as opposed to using fat and protein for energy ?

    Hi Nicole,
    I have a question about macros. I’m trying to build muscle and playing with my macros to see where I can still make gains and not gain too much fat. How strict are you in the off season? I cycle my carbs and sometimes go over my count of 150g. My protein and fats also are not perfect. Should I worry about the exact count or ratios? My body responds well when I stick to my plan. But sometimes I say,” I’m off season ” so I give in to my cravings. How often do you give in to your cravings or have a cheat meal?

    Thank you so much for your response. My friend was taking prescription strength diuretics 2 weeks before her show.. She won first place which just means more will continue under this coaches influence.

    I’m also in the same boat.. Want to build muscle and not gain too much fat. Trying to adjust the calories and carb cycle while doing 30min of cardio 5x week. Also doing intervals / HIIT as well. Nicole , did you ever go through the “chunky” bulking stage? Or do did you stay lean and bulk? I know you have succeeded in getting to where you need to be regarding muscle mass.. However I’m still too small
