I have no idea what the right answer is but I can tell you what I’ve been doing that I’ve been fine with. I get up at 4 and have a cup of coffee then a shake. I try to get to the gym by 4:30. My shake is a scoop of protein powder and a scoop of pre workout (SFH PUSH). Mix with 8 oz coconut water. I think you may be sluggish because it sounds like you’re not having carbs. If you’re depleted when you wake up, you make be doing more harm than good trying to train without carbs. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong here. Don’t want to give bad advice since we all have different goals but that’s what seems to work for me.
