I love that a big part of my job is traveling all over the world and meeting so many different people. Another big part of my job is staying in the best possible shape, all year long. Those two things don’t always go together. But over the years I have learned how to stay on track with my diet while traveling basically anywhere in the world. In this video, filmed before my trip to Finland last week, I show some of the best travel foods you can find and take with you wherever you go.
Easy peasy!
Log in to replygreat tips thankyou
Log in to replyGreat stuff! Thank you!!
Log in to replyNicole, thanks for the tips, great info…I assume that you are freezing your chicken pre-cooked, do you find that freezing it changes the consistency? I would love to make a ton of chicken and freeze in baggies for a quick meal but afraid of the taste, texture, etc. after thawing. Thanks!
I am also in love with the PB2 and PB2 chocolate, great for dipping apples or carrots for a snack and I love the chocolate mixed with cottage cheese and stevia for my before-bed snack, yum!!
Log in to replyNo not with meats or fish. With rice yes. I love PB2 too!
Log in to replyNo not for meats and stuff. The only thing that changes consistency for me is rice. Yuck
Log in to replyAWWWEEESOME! thank you!
Log in to replyI’ll be traveling out of country during my contest prep.for a family wedding, so this is exactly what I needed!! Thank you so much for this info, it’s like you were a psychic, answered my question before I even asked you! Hahaha one question though.. Do you carry any cooking gadgets (ex. Small George Forman) to cook your food while in hotel?!
Log in to replyNo most of the hotels don’t allow you to cook in the room because it is a fire hazard. Besides I never have room in my luggage anyway for additional cookware lol
Log in to replyThat was awesome! Thank you so much for sharing! Totally going to utilize these foods on my next trip.
Log in to replyThis is awesome not only for traveling but just for ideas for bringing lunches to work. I am making a grocery list from this post. Love it. 🙂
Log in to replythanks!!!!
Log in to replyHonestly one of my favorite videos. I have a Haitian trip in November for 7 days and I have been racking my brain on how to stay on target. This is extremely helpful!
Log in to replyLucky! have fun!
Log in to replySo great. Thank you so much for that tips. I am traveling across county right now and that really helps with being quick and easy. 😀
Log in to replyNicole,
I got some of the Versa Grips and they are great!! Thank you for the recommendation. I love your cooking segments, and in one of your segments you mentioned you would share how you cook your chicken so it doesn’t dry out. I think it may have been a recipe using a crock pot? I’m anxious to see that segment.. GREAT job! your site is amazing!
Marty
Log in to replyYes just throw 4-5 chicken breasts in a crock pot with 2c water and 1c natural salsa. Cook on low for 6-8hrs. Viola!
Log in to replyHi Nicole!
Log in to replyQuestion. This past year, I’ve gotten into good shape, lost 47lbs to date, and trying to take my fitness goals to the next level. I lift/cardio 5-days a week and add a light cardio day on day six. I’m trying to adjust my food intake according to my workout schedule. I hear it’s best to take in your complex carbs in those meals before and after your workouts. Because my only opportunity to workout is in the evening after work (usually around 8pm) should I still eat my carbs around that time – even though it’s in the evening? Or could that set me back? I’m usually in bed by 11pm.
Thanks Nicole and congratulations again on another great win!

Yes no matter what time you train, have proteins and carbs pre and post workout. Just factor that in for your total amounts during the day.
Log in to replyBefore and after weights primarily. Yes you can eat carbs at night- just be aware of your portions 🙂
Log in to replythanks Nicole this was helpful I work in a restaurant where for the most part the food is fried and have been bring my own foo to work for years one reason as I have said I have hypothyroidism and mostly that I want to keep the shape I have been working for for years I also have food bullies at work who make fun of my food choices and constant cat food remarks when I whip out a plastic fork and I love that hickory flavored tuna good to know what to carry on the plane and that pb2
Log in to replyHi Nicole,
Will you be coming back to Australia anytime soon? I really would love to meet you sometime!
Log in to replyProbably not until 2016
Log in to replyHi Nicole! This is a great video! I noticed you stated that you chose white rice instead of brown for no particular reason. I always thought that you should only have white rice after your workouts and stuff since it was faster absorbing? Ive always only consumed brown rice. Is there really no huge difference? Thanks!
Log in to replyWhite rice is much faster digesting. It is lower in fiber and makes for a great post workout meal
Log in to replyGreat ideas and items. Thanks
Log in to replyThis is my very first year competing (33 yrs old) and I have become very fond of StarKist tuna creations lemon pepper. Is this ok to eat for my fish protein instead of tilapia or flounder. I really hate fish, but will choke it down if needed.
Log in to replyFish is not necessary in a prep- it is just a very easy digesting clean source of lean protein. You could sub for chicken, egg whites and extra lean ground turkey instead.
Log in to replyAwesome awesome awesome!! I’ll be going to Japan in a few months for 11 days and will be about a month out from my show date. I’ve been freaking out about how to stay on track while traveling when I came across this. SO helpful! I had planned on taking canned chicken but didn’t know I probably won’t be able to 🙁 Gotta find packaged chicken like your tuna as I don’t eat fish… Thanks so much Nicole!!
Log in to replyLove it!
Log in to replyWhere did you find the packaged Tuna?
Log in to replyIt is available at almost all grocery stores.
Log in to replyLoved this video- very helpful! Thanks!
Log in to replyThank you so much for this! I am about to travel for Thanksgiving, and at very odd hours so I will need food for sure. This was a huge help!!
Log in to replyAbsolutely loved this video. I travel often for work and strest about my meals. Thank you
