Yes, that’s right: I’m training for a triathlon! ?♀️ I’ve always said it’s good to step out of your comfort zone to challenge yourself…and this is totally out of my realm! To be honest, it scared the crap out of me – which is why I decided to do it. This is my first triathlon training session and there are a lot of new techniques to learn so I enlisted the expertise of James Adams, a professional triathlete.
I’m really excited to share this new journey with everyone. I hope it inspires you to try new things. Wish me luck! ?
SO COOL!!! 😀
Log in to replyBest of luck, Nicole!!! I felt that way when I did my first 5k (not as major as yours), but I did it. After 20 years of no running/jogging what so ever. I loved it. I was not in a race with anyone, didn’t come in first or probably not in the top 20, but I did it at my own pace. I want to move on to a 10k, hopefully !
Log in to replyGreat job. Everyone is rooting for you!!!! 😉
Go for it! Thank you Michelle!
Log in to replyI started running/jogging myself last year With a 16k lol I died but loved it and have kept up with a few more and doing the same 16k run this year it only gets better from here!! Keep it up and you will be doin a half marathon before you know it! We all gotta start somewhere!!
Log in to replyGreat job! Good luck!
Log in to replyI think you’ll love it! I did my first triathlon in 2016 after running marathons. I hadn’t been on a bike that actually moved since I was a kid, and I hadn’t been in a pool other than to lounge in the sun. After doing an Olympic distance for my first, I got peer-pressured into a full IRONMAN! Loved (almost) every minute of my training for that last year.
Log in to replyI am just going to take it one step at a time. Sprint, then Olympic and then we will see lol Congrats to you! An Ironman is no joke!
Log in to replyIt’s so fun that you’re taking us along on this journey!
Log in to replySo proud of you Nicole! I’ve always thought doing a triathlon would be fun. You will do great!
Log in to replyGood luck!! You will undoubtedly be awesome!
Log in to replyNicole-I am so excited and so proud of you! Fear and going at it head on is growth…you are a true inspiration. Thank you for taking us on this journey, I look forward to watching and will be cheering you on the whole way. You’re an athlete–you will do great!!
Log in to replyThank you!
Log in to replyGood for you Nicole! I’m doing the same thing only with crossfit, I’m old and scared but YOLO
Log in to replyGood luck Nicole!! I’m sure you will be awesome at that too! You are a fierce competitor! When is the Triathlon??
Log in to replyBut please tell me that you are still going to do Figure Olympia this year?!?!
Thank you Sue! I am not exactly sure- probably fall sometime.
Log in to replyUnfortunately I am sitting out this year. Business with nPower Nutrition is way too important at the moment and needs all of my energy. I just I cannot sacrifice months of being away with my focus elsewhere.
This is great! Reminds me of the track days. Get it Nicole! Doing new things are definitely scary but you make it look so natural!
Log in to replyThis is great – look forward to being part of your journey, cheering you on and watching you exceed your expectations!
Log in to replyThank you!
Log in to replyNicole, you are such an inspiration and a class act. Always doing everything the most professional way possible! My daughter was an elite and collegiate gymnast, then turned figure competitor (got her pro card at her first show, but she didn’t totally love it), fell in love with biking/spinning and then triathlons! Started with sprint and Olympic, then did a few half’s, a full Ironman (did great), but decided the half was her thing. Set her sites last year at 34 on the 70.3 World Championships and made it! She just had a baby (yep..pregnant and didn’t know it at World’s) and wants to try to qualify again next year…and then possibly professional cycling beyond that. If she can do it, YOU can KILL it. Good luck and can’t wait to follow you on this journey!
Log in to replyThat sounds like my background, except I did the figure part for MUCH longer lol and I am just starting the Triathlon program haha. I have a lot of work to do but I hope the better I get the more I love it.
Log in to replyGood for you! 🙂 Very exciting!
I am training for the Spartan Super in Asheville and the Spartan Beast in Killington!
Let’s do this! Cheers, Christie
Log in to replyYay! That’s awesome!!
Log in to replyYay! That’s awesome!! ??
Log in to replyI’m so excited for you!! Welcome to a new and FUN sport! I’ve found triathletes to be the most encouraging and inclusive group of athletes from any sport I’ve been involved in. And the most expensive lol
Log in to replyThat’s good to hear… not the expensive part but the rest lol I bought my gear for the bike this weekend so I am very familiar with the expensive part!
Log in to replyThank you so much for sharing this with us!! I’m so proud of you for jumping in and grabbing this challenge by the horns. I can’t tell you how cool it is to see your training session and learn about all about running form. Totally nerding out here!!! Thank you for always sharing your journey with us!! You da bomb!! And thanks to Allan for filming and making all this content available to us on the website! ?❤️
Log in to replyThank you! I am excited to continue improving 🙂
Log in to replyAmazing Nicole! I feel excited to watch you on your journey. Before I had kids, as a personal trainer I coached beginner triathletes, so watching you brings back so many fond memories. Have fun!
Log in to replyI’m so excited for you!! I’ve been a triathlete for 18 years I love the sport!!
Log in to replyWow! That’s awesome!
Log in to replyI picked your website for the same reason you picked James Adams. Either you go with the best or you go home. lol True story! Your website has been awesome for me. Since you are now training for the triathlon does this change the real workouts you post? Also, will the challenges continue? I completed 3 in a row, didn’t do this last one and everyday I feel like I’m missing something. I think I’ve been brainwashed LOL In a good way! Good luck with your triathlon but I don’t think you need my luck. You “will” kick ass!
Log in to replyI will still be weight training so the workouts I post will be the same 🙂 I may mix in some different exercises but my specialty is bodybuilding and always will be. The challenges will also continue. Doing a triathlon is just a personal goal I set for myself.
Log in to replyHi Nicole☺️! Congrats on your new Triathlon goal… I’m curious what the length and mileage are for each event?
Log in to replyBest luck to you! ???
My goal is the Olympic distance but I am going to start with a sprint first 🙂
Log in to replyYou are going to have so much fun!!!! I wish you the very best on your new adventure ?????
Log in to replyI LOVE how raw and real this and you are!!! thank you for sharing!!!
Log in to replyBe careful with running barefoot! I loved it and ended up with stress fractures twice. Had to drop out of races because of it. I will never go back to barefoot running. Lots of opinions on this but our feet are not used to this and are not accustomed – we are also typically not running on softer ground. Barefoot running shaved a minute per mile off my pace- just be careful!
Log in to replyHey Nicole. bit late to the party here but been meaning to ask you – with your lifting and gymnastic experience as well as your drive to push yourself, have you never considered competing in crossfit?
Log in to replyYes unfortunately I didn’t think it was a good idea with my recurring back injury
